MINUTES OF THE TOWN OF MERRILL BOARD MEETING HELD AT THE TOWN OF MERRILL COMMUNITY CENTER

APRIL 11, 2011

 

   Chairman Burgener called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. with the Pledge of Allegiance

     

ROLL CALL:   Chairman Bill Burgener, Supervisors Pettit & Voigt, as well as Clerk, Treasurer and Constable in attendance.  Matushak & Simon excused.

 

Also present:  Marilyn Burgener,  Larry & Julie Wenning, Leo Fehlberg, Terry Sukow, Roger & Marion Anderson,  Mary Jo Schnur and Mark Handlin  

 

Motion by Voigt “to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the March 14, 2011 Board Meeting and approve as written”.   Motion 2nd by Pettit.  Carried 3-0.

 

Treasurer’s report:  Balance as of  March 31, 2011 - $358,544.49.  Checks issued April 11, 2011 total $21,796.92 for a balance of $336,747.57 as of this date.  Motion by Voigt “to approve as read”.   Motion 2nd by Pettit.  Carried 3-0.

 

Motion by Burgener “to approve the vouchers as submitted, checks #15761 thru #15804”.  Motion 2nd by Pettit.  Carried 2-1.with Voigt opposing payment of check #15761 in the amount of $17,451.70 due to the outstanding controversy of Grouting, Janssen Heating

and Trident.  (Note:  $3,397.46 was payment on the new Town Hall contract - $14,054.24 was for extras (voting booths, shelving, and fire extinquisher enclosures.).  Chairman volunteered to get involved to bring the matter of Grouting, Janssen Heating and Trident to a conclusion.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS: 

Adoption of Ordinances:  Include on May agenda.  Board is reviewing ordinances to put in effect and when complete will have a hearing to adopt. 

 

Internet Service at Community Center:   Stacy reported Frontier could provide service in three days.  Further discussion to be held in May.

 

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

New On-Line Training presented by Wisconsin Towns Association:  No action taken.

Appoint 2 New Members to the Long Range Planning Committee:  Chairman reported Rodney Gutenberger will be a new member, with another being appointed in May.

Supervisor Pettit is in charge of hall reservations and works with Terry Sukow to have hall ready.  Decision made for Stacy, Terry and Chairman work together to take care of other issues that might arise, which would allow the Planning Committee to spend more time developing use of the “Business Park

 

Contemplataed split of land owned by Kevin Cohrs off Doering Drive:  No action taken until Cohrs attends a Board Meeting to explain.

 

 

Long Range Planning Committee Recommendations:  None. 

 

 

CORRESPONDENCE:  

Voigt read letter from Bill Smith requesting reconsideration of his cancellation of the hall rental, believing not only should his deposit have been  refunded, but also his payment of the rental fee.  Consideration to be given to setting new guidelines, but refund of the hall rental is on hold for now.

 

PUBLIC COMMENTS:    

Mark Handlin reported Sunday evening’s tornado traveled 12-1/2 miles in the Town of Merrill and no time frame has been set by Public Service as to when electricity will be restored as poles need replacing, lines strung and transformers replaced.  

 

 

Motion by Voigt “to adjourn”.  Motion  2nd by Pettit.  Carried 3-0.

 

Chairman Burgener adjourned the meeting at 7:30 P.M.
