MINUTES OF THE TOWN OF MERRILL BOARD MEETING HELD AT THE TOWN OF MERRILL COMMUNITY CENTER

JANUARY 10, 2011

 

   

Chairman Burgener called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. with the Pledge of Alleg-

iance

     

ROLL CALL:   Chairman, Supervisors Matushak, Pettit, Voigt and Simon, as well as Clerk, Treasurer and Constable in attendance.

 

Also present:  Sign in Sheet.

 

Motion by Matushak “to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the December 13, 2010 Board Meeting and approve as written”   Motion 2nd by Simon.  Carried 5-0.

 

Clerk read Treasurer’s report:  Balance as of  December 31, 2010 - $305,184.42.  Checks issued January 10, 2011 total $15,855.50 for a balance of $289,328.92 as of this date.  Motion by Simon “to approve as read”.   Motion 2nd by Voigt.  Carried 5-0.

 

Motion by Pettit “to approve the vouchers as submitted, checks #15600 thru #15660”.  Motion 2nd by Matushak.   Carried 5-0.

Clerk reported payment will have to be made to Lincoln County, State, MAPs and

Northcentral Technical College for the January tax settlement, of taxes collected in Dec-

ember, by January 15, 2011.  Motion by Simon “for Clerk to disburse these checks”.  Motion 2nd by Voigt.  Carried 5-0.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS:  None

 

 

NEW BUSINESS:

 

Attending 2011 WTA District Meeting:  Chairman, Supervisor Matushak, Clerk and

Constable to attend the Friday, February 25, 2011 meeting at Stoney Creek Inn, Mosinee.

 

Discuss status of Stub Road:  The DOT is questioning whether this road still exists.

Chairman reported road is approximately 442 ft. and still exists and has the matter taken care of.

Discuss Kelly Bornhoeft situation:  Chairman reported he will be testifying at a trial

being held in Medford.  Jerry Lokemoen reported Mr. Bornhoeft was of the opinion he paid taxes on the land up to the blacktop where a sign of the subdivision was located and

took the sign.  Rather than Mr. Boenhoeft returning, replacing or paying for the sign the matter is going to trial.

 

Adoption of ordinances:  Decision made to continue adoption of necessary ordinances.

 

Update on Comprehensive Planning:  Zoning is still working on this.

 

Long Range Planning Committee Updates:  Outside of building is being completed.

Inside should be completed before too long.  Stacy and Scott have been working on

installation of phone service and this also should be completed shortly.

 

 

CORRESPONDENCE:

 

Terry Sukow presented a Long Range Sign Plan for the Town of Merrill and explained

regulations that are necessary.  Matter to be placed on the February agenda.

 

Chairman reported he will be attending a DNR meeting January 11th regarding the Ice

Drags held on Alexander Lake, which they are trying to eliminate.   Stacy reported they

do create noise, garbage and contamination from oil and gas.

Motion by Matushak “to adjourn”.  Motion  2nd by Simon.  Carried 5-0.

 

Chairman adjourned the meeting at 7:15 P.M.
